Consistency across three days, and Fernando Parroquín was the most consistent of all.

Fernando Parroquín (MEX) claimed the gold medal in the Overall show jumping classification at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, at the Centro Ecuestre Palmarejo, the standings that accumulate faults across all three days of competition: the speed class, the two team final rounds and the two individual final rounds. Parroquín closed the championship on 5.73 total faults with Escudero Sdn, a 10-year-old bay Zangersheide gelding (Mr Blue x Baloubet du Rouet).

Before the two rounds of the individual final, Parroquín led the overall standings on just 1.73 faults, the clear gold medal favourite. Simón Arango (COL) was second on 2.05 faults, followed by Juan Manuel Bolaños (ESA) on 2.54, Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) on 4 faults, Alejandro Karolyi (VEN) on 5.17, Anna Camille Vlasov (BAH) on 6.94 and Rigoberto Aldana (GUA) on 7.01. The demanding individual final course proved decisive, claiming victims one by one and collapsing medal dreams from the very first round.

Parroquín and Arango both completed the first round without penalties, keeping their gold medal ambitions intact. Larrazabal added 4 more faults and Alejandro Karolyi also incurred penalties. Roberto Terán Tafur (COL), who would go on to claim individual gold, posted a clear first round to accumulate 8.25 total faults, lurking in position to claim an overall medal if any of the favourites faltered.

The decisive moment came in the second round, Terán returned first with another impeccable clear, applying maximum pressure on the rest. Larrazabal responded with a clear as well, closing his overall on 8 faults, third in the standings. Arango finished with 4 faults in the decisive round, securing silver on 6.05 totals. Everything then rested on Parroquín, if he finished on 4 faults or fewer, the gold was his. The Mexican brought down one fence in that final round but with 4 faults and a total of 5.73, enough to claim the overall gold at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
