Luis Fernando Larrazabal Claims Venezuela’s First Gold in the Show Jumping Speed Class at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

Last to go, and first to stand on the highest step of the podium.

Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN), former Tu Mundo Ecuestre Latin Show Jumping Ranking leader, claimed the gold medal in the individual speed Table C class at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, at the Centro Ecuestre Palmarejo. Larrazabal was the last competitor to enter the arena and sealed victory with a flawless round in 69.96 seconds among 37 competitors, on a course designed by Oscar Soberón. The class also counts as the first individual qualifier and the opening day of the team competition.

Baroness is an 11-year-old bay Westphalian mare (Balous Bellini x Polydor), the same horse with which Larrazabal also shone this season at WEC Ocala during the Summer Series.

Lukene Arenas Saravia (GUA) claimed the silver medal with Mestizo LS, a 10-year-old bay SLS stallion, in 70.60 seconds. Juan Pablo Betancourt (COL) took bronze with Henry Jota Peperoni, a 9-year-old chestnut AAFE gelding (Chester Z x B-Argenstar), with 4 faults in 71.60 seconds, in Table C competition; each fault adds 4 seconds to the final time.

Juan Pablo Gaspar Albáñez (MEX) finished fourth with Pina Lotta T, an 8-year-old chestnut Hanoverian mare, with 4 faults in 72.62 seconds. Fernando Parroquín Delfín (MEX) was fifth with Escudero Sdn, a 9-year-old bay Zangersheide gelding (Mr Blue x Baloubet du Rouet), with 4 faults in 73.41 seconds. Nicolás Alejandro Pizarro Suárez Martínez (MEX) completed the prize list in sixth with Farino du Guinefort, a 10-year-old bay SF stallion (Upsilon x Arpege Pierreville), in 73.66 seconds.

Competition continues on the second day with the Team Final and the second individual qualifier in two rounds, which will decide the second medal of the championship.
