Conor Swail Closes Ottawa with His Fourth Victory of the Week in the $31,100 CIBC Wood Gundy Classic CSI4*.

Four victories in one week, and Conor Swail sealed Ottawa the only way he knows.

Conor Swail (IRL), world No. 27, clocked 38.76 seconds in the $31,100 CIBC Wood Gundy Classic CSI4* at the Ottawa International at Wesley Clover Parks, designed by Grégory Bodo (FRA) with 7 combinations on course and 4 jump-off qualifiers. His fourth victory of the week in Ottawa closed one of the most dominant weekends of the North American season.

Casturano is a 13-year-old bay Holsteiner gelding (Castelan 3 x Canturo), owned by Conall Murray, the same horse with which Swail won the $62,500 Steel-Craft Door Products CSI4* Qualifier on Friday.

Sean Jobin (CAN) stopped the clock at 39.50 seconds with Grande Dame DK, a 10-year-old black SF mare (By Ceira d’Ick x Kannan) owned by Antrim Equestrian. Gavin Moylan (CAN) posted 42.69 seconds with Memphis, a 9-year-old grey KWPN gelding (Glenfiddich VDL) owned by Gavin Moylan Stables, completing a podium formed entirely by Irish and Canadian riders.

Sam Pegg (CAN) came home with 8 faults in the jump-off in 45.29 seconds with Miss Baloume, a 10-year-old black Hanoverian mare (Messenger x Balou du Rouet) owned by Pegg himself. Mimi Gochman (USA) closed the Top 5 with Iron Maiden, an 11-year-old grey Zangersheide gelding (Clarimo x Kashmir van’t Schuttershof) owned by Mimi Snow Sport Horse LLC, with 4 faults in 71.91 seconds in the first round.

Latin & Pan American Presence

Six of the seven combinations were Pan American Ranking representatives, Conor Swail the only non-Pan American on course. Sean Jobin (CAN) and Gavin Moylan (CAN) were second and third, Sam Pegg (CAN) fourth, Mimi Gochman (USA) fifth and Carly Campbell-Cooper (CAN) sixth. Beezie Madden (USA) was eliminated. No Latin riders competed.
