Erynn Ballard Keeps the Wins Coming on a Third Different Horse in the $31,100 CSI3* Speed at Traverse City.

Three different horses, three FEI victories, and Erynn Ballard remains the most feared weapon in Michigan.

Erynn Ballard (CAN), No. 6 in the Tu Mundo Ecuestre Pan American Show Jumping Ranking, claimed the $31,100 CSI3* Speed at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival Week V in Traverse City, Michigan, designed by Nick Granat with 30 combinations on course. Ballard crossed the finish in 62.11 seconds to claim her third FEI victory of the week, on her third different horse. “Going fast is a numbers game. It’s fractions of a second that make a difference and sometimes we do have to make choices to save time. It’s strategy, it’s strides.”

Chatadel PS is a 9-year-old grey OS stallion (Chacoon Blue x Conthargos), what Ballard calls her “serious weapon”: “That is an exceptional horse. At 9 years old he’s already won so much for us. He’s deceivingly fast and his stride is so big.”

Amy Millar (CAN), Ballard’s Olympic teammate, finished second with Christiano, a 16-year-old bay DSP gelding (Canoso x Compliment), clocking 62.97 seconds, less than a second behind the winner. Giavanna Rinaldi (USA) completed the podium with Big Beauty Z, a 12-year-old bay Zangersheide mare (Big Star Jr KZ x Padinus), stopping the clock at 63.67 seconds.

Emily Esau Williams (USA) finished fourth with Cocette du Plevau Z, a 10-year-old bay Zangersheide mare (Coeur de Cachas D.S. x Kashmir v Schuttershof), in 64.55 seconds. Melody Liu (USA) rounded out the Top 5 with Napoleon van den Dael, a 13-year-old chestnut BWP gelding (For Passion d’Ive Z x Eros Platiere), completing her round in 66.47 seconds.

An all-Pan American Top 5, first and second for Canada with Ballard and Millar, third through fifth for the United States with Rinaldi, Esau Williams and Liu. The three most consistent performers of the Michigan circuit dominated the podium once again.
