Luis Fernando Larrazabal and Baroness Return to the Top in the $32,000 Modelo Especial CSI2* Speed at WEC Ocala.

Venezuela celebrated again in Ocala, and Luis Fernando Larrazabal reminded everyone why he once led the Latin rankings.

Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN), former Tu Mundo Ecuestre Latin Show Jumping Ranking leader and current No. 13 in the standings, claimed the $32,000 Modelo Especial 1.45m CSI2* Speed at the 2026 Summer Series Week VIII at World Equestrian Center Ocala, designed by Oscar Soberón with 25 combinations on course. Larrazabal crossed the finish in 61.09 seconds to take the win.

Baroness is an 11-year-old bay Westphalian mare (Balous Bellini x Polydor), owned by LeeAnn Ablin, a horse that delivered speed and precision on Ocala’s demanding speed track.

Cormac Hanley (IRL) finished second with Santiago vh Netehof, an 8-year-old grey BWP gelding (Untouchable 27 x Diamant de Semilly) owned by Heathman Farm LLC, in a time of 62.44 seconds. William Simpson (USA) completed the podium with Victor Z, a 15-year-old grey Zangersheide gelding (Vittorio x Concorde) owned by Elsa Goding, in 67.18 seconds.

A Latin victory for Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN), the top Latin and Pan American performer of the day. Dominique Damico (USA) finished fourth with Cava, a 15-year-old bay Oldenburg gelding (Cadensky x Clinton), in 68.68 seconds. Andressa Porter (COL) was fifth with Starsky, a 13-year-old grey OS stallion (Stakkatol x Quick Star), in 70.94 seconds. Gustavo Prato (ARG) was sixth with Chasing Pilot PS, a 10-year-old grey OS gelding (Chacoon Blue x Conthargos), in 71.87 seconds. Juan Vegas (VEN) twelfth with 4 faults, Juan Manuel Luzardo (URU) fifteenth with 8 faults, and Lucía Rivas (BRA) was twentieth with 8 faults.
