Kendra Claricia Brinkop and Gatsby le Magnific Claim Their First International Victory Together in the CSI4* Grand Prix Range Rover Winning Round at Deauville 2026.

Their first together, and it arrived on the most demanding stage.

Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER), trained by Marcus Ehning, clocked 36.50 seconds in the CSI4* Grand Prix Range Rover Winning Round 1.50m at the Longines Deauville Classic, designed by Gérard Lachat (SUI) with 71 combinations on course, 13 qualifying for the winning round and €28,700 in prize money. Brinkop was the fastest of the afternoon to claim the first international victory of her partnership with Gatsby le Magnific. “I am very happy with this win, especially as I have only been riding Gatsby since the beginning of the year. We have made a lot of progress since then and, as he showed today, he can be very fast when he needs to be.”

Gatsby le Magnific is a 10-year-old bay gelding (Action Breaker x Ogano Sitte), owned by Stephex Stables, a combination that had already competed in five-star Grand Prix classes at the Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais and the Printemps des Sports Équestres in Fontainebleau, but had never before claimed an international victory until this Saturday afternoon in Normandy.

Romain Dreyfus (FRA), carried by a large home crowd, completed the winning round in 37.13 seconds with Comme Convenu, a 9-year-old black Westphalian stallion (Comme Il Faut x Arpeggio) owned by S.A.S.U. Compagnie de Saint Cyr, just 0.63 seconds behind Brinkop. Wilm Vermeir (BEL) completed the podium with Adelio, a 9-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding (Adagio de Talma x Cayado) owned by Willy Sneyers, clocking 37.67 seconds, the combination’s best international result to date.

Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE), Olympic champion and outgoing world champion, finished fourth with H&M Indiana, an 18-year-old bay BWP mare (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Animo’s Hallo) owned by Stuteri Arch, in 37.86 seconds. Hilary Scott (AUS) rounded out the Top 5 with Oaks Milky Way, a 19-year-old grey AWHA mare (Clearway x Jalisco B) owned by Alice Cameron, in 38.72 seconds.

Marilyn Little (USA) — No. 9 in the Tu Mundo Ecuestre Pan American Show Jumping Ranking — was the top regional performer in eleventh place with 4 faults in 38.68 seconds in the winning round. Pedro Veniss (BRA) — former Latin Ranking leader — was the top Latin finisher in fifteenth place with a clear first round in 70.63 seconds, among the four combinations that completed without penalties but were squeezed out of the winning round. Nicolás Pizarro (MEX) — No. 2 in the Latin Ranking — eighteenth with 1 fault, Ana Carolina Sandoval (ECU) nineteenth with 2 faults, Francisco Pasquel (MEX) fiftieth with 9 faults, João Victor Castro (BRA) fifty-seventh with 13 faults. Jorge Matte (CHI) retired.
